Abstract

Mobile Legends is a digital game with its unique linguistic expressions among its players. This research study explored the linguistic expressions uttered and made by Mobile Legend: Bang Bang (MLBB) players, explicitly focusing on jargon and languages that only a player of the game could fully understand such as "KS" an acronym of the word "Kill steal" and "SS" for the word "Special skill", and how these words play a crucial role in gaming communication. It aims to identify new words and linguistic expressions, analyze their morpho-semantic structure, and find out how the identity and culture of the gaming community are reflected in these languages. A descriptive qualitative method, using live gaming observation and interviews to gather data. Findings indicate players frequently use jargon, enabling them to communicate faster and exchange information quickly. The study also points out that such language helps to develop community by promoting shared understanding and player identity, as the study concludes that those expressions are not just shortcuts but a reflection of evolving culture and unique languages.
